Empanada Dough
other | bread crust mexican3 cups flour
½ tsp. salt
6 oz. butter (1½ sticks), cubed
2 egg
¼ cup milk
- Mix flour and salt, then blend in butter with pastry blender.
- Mix in 1 egg and milk until soft dough forms, adding additional milk if needed.
- Roll out into thin sheet and cut into circles.
- Fill with taco filling or other fillings, fold over and seal by crimping (brush inside edges with egg white to improve the seal).
- Chill for 30 minutes.
- Beat second egg to make an egg wash, brush over the top, and bake at 375°F for 8-12 minutes, until browned.
- Turn over, brush the other side with egg wash, and continue baking 8-12 minutes, until golden brown.
