1 cup (135g) flour
1/2 tsp. salt
6 1/3 Tbsp. (76g) shortening
3 Tbsp. (45ml) cold water

  • Mix flour and salt in large mixing bowl.
  • Mix in shortening with pastry blender until it’s broken down into pea-sized chunks.
  • Add water and mix thoroughly.
  • Flatten into a disc, then roll out to desired thinness.

07/16/2024: Blind baking instructions:

  • line pie dish with pie crust and parchment, then fill with weights or stones
  • bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes
  • remove weights and parchment, and continue baking until golden brown, about 10 minutes
  • remove from oven and let cool completely
