1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate (or 9 tbsp. cocoa and 3 tbsp. neutral oil)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract (optional)
2/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

  • melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan then remove from heat
  • mix in sugar, then eggs and extracts
  • mix in dry ingredients until just combined
  • pour batter into foil-lined 8x8 baking dish
  • bake at 35O°F for 30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean
