King's Cake #2

2 Tbsp. butter
- Scald milk, remove from heat and stir in butter
1 Tbsp. active dry yeast
1/3 cup 110°F water
1 Tbsp. sugar
- Combine and let stand until yeast bubbles.
1 egg
3 Tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 3/4 cup flour
- Whisk egg into yeast mixture, then stir in sugar, salt, and nutmeg.
- Stir in flour one cup at a time.
- Knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Turn dough into oiled bowl and turn over.
- Cover with damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 2 hours.
- Punch down and roll into a large rectangle.
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup flour
4 Tbsp. melted butter
- Combine all ingredients and spread over dough rectangle.
- Roll into a log and shape into a circle on a greased cookie sheet, making cuts every inch.
- Let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp. water
- Mix well, adding water until the desired consistency is reached, then drizzle over warm cake.
