monkey bread

1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
1 tbsp. sugar
- combine in stand mixer bowl and set aside
1 1/4 cups milk
1/3 cup butter
- heat in a small saucepan until butter is melted and set aside
3 Tbsp sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
5 cups flour
- add to stand mixer bowl and process with dough hook on low speed
- slowly add milk mixture and continue processing until a shaggy dough forms
- add flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl
- process on medium for 2 minutes then turn out on a floured board and shape into a ball
- put dough in buttered bowl, turning over to coat all sides
- cover with a wet towel and let rise in a warm place
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- melt butter and pour into a small bowl
- mix sugar and cinnamon in a second bowl
- punch down dough and tear off 1” balls
- roll each ball in butter, then in cinnamon sugar, and put in loaf or bundt pan
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
- melt butter and mix in brown sugar and vanilla
- drizzle over the dough balls in the pan
- bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes
- cool for 5 minutes then invert on serving dish

07/20/2024: garlic bread variant:
- make dough as normal
- roll balls in butter and toss with 2 tbsp. of garlic powder
- omit glaze, bake as normal, and serve from the pan
